Have you ever wondered about traveling but thought for a moment that money might be an issue? Well there are many places you can go that, especially if you have children, are very affordable. Most find that going on an expedition of sorts is a fun vacation. Have you ever considered searching for diamonds at the Crater of Diamonds State Park? For a small fee per day you and your family can hunt for diamonds on a 37 acre piece of property all day and on your own time.
Considered an easy hunt, especially after it rains, many have found keepers. The biggest diamond found at the park has been named "Uncle Sam" which weighed a whopping 40.23 carat, white diamond. It is amazing to read about the history that goes all the way back to 144 million years ago, with violent volcano eruptions which allowed us to find these wonderful gems. This is the only place in all of North America that you can hunt for them.
Before you make plans and rush there, it is important to prepare yourself for an adventure of a life time. You need to dress appropriately for the weather; it can sometime be very muddy and cold, or hot and miserable. Plan a couple of days to enjoy the scenery as well as recoup your muscles from carrying buckets of dirt to sift through. Just remember there are onsite park staff members that can help you identify your find and there is also an onsite Diamond Discovery Center that will help you identify other rocks and crystals. So what are you waiting for? Go have some fun.
