Finding and hunting deer can be fun but also a little bit of work. If you have a chance, you should scout the area where you are going to hunt ahead of time. Just take a walk in the woods and find the places where the deer have bedded down. Even if it is not hunting season, try to make sure that you do all you can and not leave any signs or smells of your being in the woods. Deer have a keen sense of smell and can hear very well also, so travel carefully and quietly. Find a way to enter and leave the woods as undetected as possible.
Keep track of your hunts. Keep a book or log of where and what time you got your deer. Write down each year what crops are near your stand. Are there apple trees nearby? When do the apples start to fall? Is there lot of apples or just a few? Write down anything else that might be of help. You may think that this is not going to help but it will in future years of hunting. When looking it over you will see a pattern emerge.
Common ways to hunt deer include stalking, were you follow trails and signs; stand hunting, where you wait near where dear travel; still hunting, which is walking as quiet as possible and standing to shoot. Finally there is line drive, which is forcing deer toward other hunters up ahead. In your hunting be creative and be ready for the unusual; timing is everything. Have great hunt.
